So, I missed Miscellany Monday…

… but I am going to be miscellaneous anyway!

My¬†beautiful been-through-so-much-together friend and heart-sister¬†is married! I do not have an opposite-matching picture to go with this one yet… but will soon :)

We were away from Eli overnight for only the second time since he was born. I think I missed him more than he missed me. My mom and little sister stayed with him. We left during nap-time on Sunday and came home after he had gone to bed on Monday, so he woke up with us there in the morning on Tuesday. I’m not sure whether I am glad that he did so well or sad that he didn’t seem to be happier than normal to see me! Hmm…

Hair spray and I are not friends. Not friends at all.

Curling irons and my thick, long hair are also not friends. The curls stayed this time, thanks to my crunchier-than-autumn-leaves hair-sprayed hair… but my goodness it took forever – the hair stylist was actually trying to inlist her hair-styling neighbors to grab an extra curling iron and come help her curl.

Manicures and I? Not friends. I’m too fidgety. I think I have six layers of polish on my left thumb nail because I just couldn’t seem to go 5 minutes without messing it up.

Pedicures and I? Friends :)

I love new socks.

I have new socks.

My feet are happy :)

Miscellany -feeling introspective- Monday

In exactly three weeks my baby boy will be a year old. He used to be such a teeny tiny burrito baby… who, once swaddled, always rolled onto his side to sleep :)

By the way, if you need a milk-free soy-free cake for your Milk and Soy Protein Intolerant birthday boy, and you live near me, this is a good place to get your cake from (since they are vegan they are egg-free, too – we are not a vegan family, but yay for no other potential allergens!)

This verse is on my mind today. I need to believe it in my heart:

Unless the Lord builds the house,

it’s builders labor in vain.

Unless the Lord watches over the city,

the watchmen stand guard in vain.

In vain you rise early and stay up late,

toiling for food to eat –

for He grants sleep to those He loves.”

Psalm 127:1-2

In less than a week I’ll be leaving to get ready for my friend-who-is-more-like-a-sister’s wedding. My mom will come watch the baby for a night. I get a whole night to myself with my husband (I simply can not wait :) ).

(This is a picture from when my husband and I got married three and a half years ago. My friend is in the red… soon we’ll have a picture with her in white and me in red :) )

Linking up with carissa graham today.

25 weeks

Baby is 25 weeks along today :) Less than a week away from 6 months!

This past weekend was a busy one!

The 6th was my mom’s birthday, the day we got our new-used car, the day of Chris’ brother’s wedding rehearsal AND just so happened to be exactly 3 years since Chris asked me to marry him :)

Chris’ brother got married on Saturday (yay!!) and we were both in the wedding. Thank goodness I got a dress a few sizes too big, and that my mom was able to find someone who would take in the top for me just 2 weeks before, because baby’s really sticking out nowadays! Although… we just realized this past weekend that there were family members who didn’t know that we’re expecting a baby… and wouldn’t have known by looking at me, unless someone told them. Really, I promise, my belly didn’t stick out that far 6 months ago :-P

At one point during the reception, Grandpa Barney called me over to him. He wanted to introduce me to his brother and his wife, whom he didn’t think I had met before. He first introduced me as Christopher’s wife, and then after a bit of poking fun at me (the good kind of fun-poking, and which I wholly expected from him) proudly said “this young lady is going to make me a Great-Grandpa again!” Grandpa’s sister-in-law glanced at me, then back to Grandpa Barney and said “oh, will she someday? That’s nice.” Grandpa looked puzzled and (I hope I didn’t laugh) I pointed to my belly and said “actually I am in the middle of doing so right now!” … and so much of the afternoon went this way, with either Chris or his dad or Grandpa sharing the news and friends’ and family members’ faces twisting into confused expressions, thankfully followed by very happy ones :)

Our baby boy is still moving around a LOT. If there is ever anything pushing against my belly even a little, he kicks it. The other night, no matter which side I laid on, baby kicked me on that side. I love the movement, though, and we can see him moving around more and more :)

The only downside lately is heartburn, I guess. I swear even cinnamon causes it, which is sad :( because I love chai tea and honey-cinnamon lattes, and adding cinnamon when I bake.
